Mary Jobaida is a first-generation American, a mother, and an advocate for inclusivity and justice.
Her candidacy is inspired by her over two decades of experience living in Long Island City, raising her children, and organizing in social and political spaces.
Mary’s jobs as an outreach worker with a network of community health centers, constituent liaison with the state senate, as a public school teacher in underserved communities, and her activism have offered her the opportunity to work with grassroots communities, healthcare organizations, schools, community boards, local businesses, places of worship, and elected offices. Working with underserved communities during the pandemic and beyond deepened her understanding of the struggles everyday New Yorkers face. From her experience, Mary believes government and elected officials can and must do more to address unjust economic inequality and struggles for affordability in Assembly District 36 and beyond.
Mary does not want to accept or let economic disparity increase. All working people deserve all basic needs met, and everyday New Yorkers deserve a New York that they can afford.
Mary’s campaign is endorsed by John Liu, the first Asian American elected in New York and current State Senator, as well as the largest South Asian labor organization and its alliance, ASAAL; the Bangladeshi American Advocacy Group (BAAG); the New American Democratic Club; and the Social Democrats of the USA. However, the most important endorsement is the people's support for Mary. It's a neighbor-to-neighbor movement by local people with no big farm or consultant involve in running this campaign.
Mary's goal is to create the best constituents service and make New York inclusive, just, and livable for all of us.
